Why do Christians believe that the Bible is the written Word of God?
Christians believe the message of the Bible because they believe it
is the inspired (God-breathed) Word of God & His
message to the world.
First, Scripture itself claims to be inspired by
God both in the Old and New Testaments by the
writers of Scripture. Some examples are given at
the end of this post.
Secondly, the number of available manuscripts of
Scripture far outweigh all other historic or
ancient literature, in which both historical and
archaeological evidence continue to confirm the
accuracy of Scripture and fulfillment of its
prophecies.
Thirdly, Jesus Christ Himself attests to the
validity of Old Testament Scripture throughout
the Gospels, as well as the Apostle Paul in his
letters to the church.
Fourthly, the countless personal testimonies of
God's supernatural faithfulness in keeping His
promises set forth in His Word to those who put
their trust in Him.
Deu 31:24-26 And it came to pass, when Moses had
made an end of writing the words of this law in
a book, until they were finished, that Moses
commanded the Levites, that bare the ark of the
covenant of Jehovah, saying, Take this book of
the law, and put it by the side of the ark of
the covenant of Jehovah your God, that it may be
there for a witness against thee.
Exodus 32:16 And the tables were the work of
God, and the writing was the writing of God,
graven upon the tables.
2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old
time by the will of man: but holy men of God
spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by
inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness:
