Spiritual Warfare:  The World, the Flesh, the Devil & the Glory of God

Spiritual warfare for the Christian is about truth and falsehood, love and hate, good and evil, and the integrity of God's Word. These aspects are experienced in the realms of the world, the flesh, the devil and his devil spirits. Our weapons of warfare are found in the Wisdom of Christ: God's Word & Holy Spirit

Abiding Under the Shadow of the Almighty

Perhaps there are some of you who are struggling with the same issue as part of your personal spiritual warfare, therefore I decided to publish a personal experience I had years back. I hope that by sharing this experience, those who are struggling in these areas will make a decision to jump off the fence onto the side of the Lord. I would think that some of us may find ourselves dancing with devils because we are still holding on to or trusting in the arm of the flesh. The flesh I'm speaking of is the fallen nature that we all have to deal with as Christians. The flesh lusts against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh and this is a very real struggle and a part of our daily spiritual warfare. If you are concerned about your spiritual condition, then the Lord is working in your heart and is drawing you to Him. Listen to the sweet voice of the Lord Who said,

Isa 30:21 "And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left."

I am going to share an experience I had some years ago as part of an outreach for Christ. Through this Christian program of dedicating a year for Christ, I relocated to another state for that year and shared a room with another Christian female. One night she was sitting up in her bed reading a book as I fell into a deep sleep. Soon after, my sleep was abruptly interrupted by an overwhelming presence of evil and heavy oppression that I could not speak or lift myself up from my bed. I was now aware of my friend still sitting up in her bed, however she was unable to assist me in my struggle. This evil spirit had a message for me and vehemently uttered the words "I HATE YOU!" So intense was its hate that I could never do this moment justice in an imitation of this experience, but I understood without a doubt the entity's hate for God and His people.

Struggling for a few seconds more and praying in my heart, I was able to speak the name of Jesus Christ and rebuke the evil spirit and immediately I was released from its hold. My roomate did not hear the evil spirit's message, but she did see a formless black cloud hovering over my bed at the time of the attack; however, the aura in the room continued to permeate with an intense presence of evil. We called other Christians to come to our house and pray with us. As we held hands, we quoted Scripture and prayed for over an hour until this presence dissipated into thin air. We knew the precise moment it left, as well as our struggle against thoughts of fear and intimidation. This is what I call "the roar of the lion" whose intention was to intimidate us and send us running home. This experience did not reoccur for the remainder of the year.

Let's think about it for a moment. Why dance with devils in a literal or figurative sense? They hate you and will lead you away from the power and glory of God. Trust in the goodness of God and He will lead you to victory and reward you in heaven. Do you think you need the devil to fulfill your needs? "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matt. 6:33). Sometimes the devil's stronghold is maintained by our fears, instead, do what you know is right in your heart and the peace of God will safeguard your heart and mind. Jesus Christ said,

Joh 10:10 "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Psalm 91 is a very powerful psalm that is filled with the promises of God to those who "abide under the shadow of the Almighty." Fill your heart and mind with the promises of God and you will see the power of God at work in your life.

"Resist the devil and he will flee" (James 4:7).

Abiding under the shadow of the Almighty is to abide in Christ.
