will be covered along the way.
Introduction
If you are struggling with fear or feel that you are being oppressed by a spirit
of fear, persist in making God's truth a reality in your life. Resist
fear by speaking out God's Word until you increase in power over this
stronghold and overcome it; God's Word is your "sword of the spirit."
or your weapon in the spirit world. Try to identify or get help
identifying the lie or door in which fear has become a stronghold in your life.
When you discover this truth replace your thoughts with the truth in God's Word.
Remember to use the name of Jesus Christ,
Mar 16:17-18
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out
devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not
hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
When you feel discouraged
remember these verses:
Joh 8:31-32 Then said Jesus to those Jews which
believed on him, If ye continue in my word,
then are ye my
disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you
free.
Rom 12:2 "
. . . but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of
God.
This verse states a transformation or change
will take place and we will see God's good will
for our lives.
The bible says that
fear has "torment," but as we in faith put on the word of God in our minds
and hearts, God's love is perfected in us and will deliver us from all fear.
1. Overcoming Fear in General
1Jo 4:18
There is no fear in love: but perfect love
casteth out fear, because fear hath punishment;
and he that feareth is not made perfect [complete] in love.
1Jo 2:5
but whoso keepeth his word, in him verily hath
the love of God been perfected. Hereby we know
that we are in him:
1Jo 4:19 We love,
because he first loved us (ASV).
As we follow the
Lord and grow spiritually, we experience the
love of God and it is the power of God's love
that "casts out fear."
1Jo 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just
to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from
all unrighteousness.
1Jo
3:18 My Little
children, let us not love in word,
neither with the tongue;
but in deed and truth.
1Jo 3:19
Hereby shall we know [be aware and
perceive] that we are of the truth, and shall
assure [convince] our heart before him:
1Jo 3:20
because if our heart
[thoughts and feelings] condemn us, God
is greater than our heart, and knoweth all
things.
1Jo 3:21
Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, we have
boldness [confidence] toward God;
Joh 3:17
For God sent not his Son into the world to
condemn the world; but that the world through
him might be saved.
When
we exercise the Word or will of God, we become
renewed or inwardly changed by the power of God,
and are made aware of the reality of God's
truth. Our thoughts and feelings change
accordingly. Thus, we grow in faith and
trust in the promises of God, and approach Him
with boldness or confidence vs. fear.
3.
(Con't) Fear of Condemnation (2)
Rom
8:14 For as many as
are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons
of God.
Rom
8:15 For ye have
not received the spirit of bondage [slavery]
again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit
of adoption [placed as sons], whereby we cry,
Abba, Father.
Rom
8:16 The Spirit
itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we
are the children of God:
The context from which these verses
are taken speaks about the bondage of walking in
the flesh or according to the law, instead of in
the righteousness that is freely given to us by
God's Holy Spirit within us. We are living
either in death (carnal mind) or in God's
Spirit (life). We are no longer in bondage
to sin and death but can still live our lives as
if we were, from which there is no life.

2Ti
1:7 For God gave us
not a spirit of fearfulness [timidity or
cowardice]; but of power [miraculous
power] and love [divine love] and
discipline [self-control].
2Ti
1:8 Be not ashamed
therefore of the testimony of our Lord, nor of
me his prisoner: but suffer hardship with the
gospel according to the power of God;
As witnesses of Christ and the gospel we partake
in the afflictions of the gospel and
are strengthened by God's miraculous power.
We are given God's power, His love, and
self-control by the presence of His Holy Spirit
abiding within every believer.
5.
(Con't.) Fear of revealing one's belief in the gospel
(2)
1Pe
3:13 And who is he
that will harm you, if ye be zealous of that
which is good?
1Pe 3:14
But even if ye should suffer for righteousness'
sake, blessed are ye: and fear not their fear,
neither be troubled;
We need not become alarmed, aroused or anxious
because we are supremely blessed as vessels of
God's grace and ambassadors for Christ.
6.
(Con't.)
Fear of revealing one's belief in the
gospel (3)
1Pe 3:15
but sanctify in your hearts Christ as Lord:
being
ready always to give answer to every man that
asketh you a reason concerning the hope that is
in you, yet with meekness and fear:
1Pe 3:16
having a good conscience; that, wherein ye are
spoken against, they may be put to shame who
revile your good manner of life in Christ.
By setting apart Christ in our hearts, we are
likewise set apart in truth and manifest God's
Holy Spirit to others. We must be
prepared to share valid reasons for our faith in
the gospel with those who enquire. We
share this hope in meekness of heart, and those
who slander us or treat us as criminals for our
defense of Christ, will only result in their own
shame by their false accusations.

Fear of revealing one's belief in the

Dan
12:3 And they
that are wise shall shine [figuratively
to enlighten] as the brightness of the
firmament [visible arch of the sky]; and
they that turn many to righteousness as the
stars [blazing] for ever and ever.
As we live in Christ and influence or lead
others to receive their salvation in
Christ, we likewise shine as brilliant
eternal lights in the midst of a very dark
and hopeless world.

Luk 1:69
And hath raised up a horn of salvation
for us In the house of his servant
David.
Luk
1:70 (As he spake by the mouth of
his holy prophets that have been from of
old),
Luk 1:71
Salvation from our enemies, and from the
hand of all that hate us;
The
metaphor "horn of salvation" represents
those animals whose strength is in their
horns (JFB). In our
salvation in Christ, we are
rescued and led to safety from all those
who would detest and persecute us.
Therefore, we rely on and
anticipate God's protection and
deliverance from all of our enemies.
9.
Fear of one's enemies (2)
Luk
1:74 To
grant unto us that we being delivered
out of the hand of our enemies Should
serve him without fear,
Luk
1:75 In
holiness and righteousness before him
all our days.

Fear of one's enemies (3)
Psa
138:6 For
though Jehovah is high, yet hath
he respect unto the lowly; But
the haughty he knoweth from
afar.
Psa
138:7
Though I walk in the midst of
trouble, thou wilt revive me;
Thou wilt stretch forth thy hand
against the wrath of mine
enemies, And thy right hand will
save me.
Psa
138:8 Jehovah will
perfect that which concerneth
me: Thy loving kindness, O
Jehovah,
endureth for ever;
Forsake not the works of thine
own hands.
The
Lord's power is greater than our
circumstances and He is able to
preserve us in both soul and
body in times of trouble.
He will act on our behalf
and bring us to
complete safety.
1 1.
Fear of one's enemies (4)
Psa
119:69
The proud have forged a lie
against me: With my whole
heart will I keep thy
precepts.
Psa
119:70
Their heart is as fat as
grease; But I delight in Thy
law.
Psa
119:71
It is good for me that I
have been afflicted; That I
may learn thy statutes.
Psa
119:72
The law of thy mouth is
better unto me Than
thousands of gold and
silver.
The
righteousness of God is
beautiful, especially in
comparison to the unfruitful
works of the flesh. As
Christians our treasure lies
in the beauty of the
Lord, His love and
righteousness. We
truly know that even though
our circumstances may be
oppressive at times, our
lives are hid with Christ
and rich with hope.
Whatever may seem to hinder
us becomes a stepping stone
to grow in grace as we
continue to seek Him.
12. Fear
of one's enemies (5)
Psa 56:5
All the day long
they
(enemies) wrest
(fabricate to
cause worry pain
or anger) my
words: All their
thoughts are
against me for
evil.
Psa
56:6 They
gather
themselves
together, they
hide themselves,
They mark my
steps, Even as
they have waited
for my soul.
Psa 56:8
Thou numberest
my wanderings:
Put thou my
tears into thy
bottle; Are they
not in thy book?
Psa 56:9
Then shall mine
enemies turn
back in the day
that I call:
This I know,
that God is for
me.
We as
Christians can
be confident
that
the afflictions
we suffer and
are caused by
others, are
certainly noted
by God. God sees
and remembers
our tears and
always hears the
earnest prayers
of His people.
God is sure to
deliver those
who put their
trust in Him.
13.
Fear of
one's
enemies (6)
Psa 108:12 Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
Psa 108:13 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
It is through God 's strength and not the strength of man, God having the strength and force of an army, will "trample" our enemies.
14.
Fear of one's enemies (7)
Psa 119:98 Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser (in mind, word, act) than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.
Isa 59:19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.
As we manifest the wisdom of Christ in all that we do, we keep the peace of God in our hearts and remain strong. To have the fear of God is to love and acknowledge His righteous ways. When trouble comes He will rise up in our behalf and "chase" the enemy.
15. Fear of one's enemies (8)
Mat 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
The context of this verse basically says, we are who we are in Christ. What reward is there if our love extends only to those who are good to us. We have the love and mercy of God living within us and that will never change. We are separated from the world and therefore do not hate as the world hates their enemies. As we continue to walk in the love of God, we are perfected in God's love and delivered from all fear.

Phi 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
God effectually and fervently energizes the believer by the power of the Holy Spirit living within to walk with Him. This is the new nature given to us by God from which we operate. This new nature seeks to do the things of God and is our true identity as children of God versus the old man or old nature from which we have been saved or made whole.
17. Fear of Spiritual Inadequacy (2)
2Co 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
2Co 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
Our sufficiency is of God because God placed His spirit in the "fleshly tablets of our hearts" as compared to the letter of the law that was previously given to Moses in "tablets of stone".
18. Fear of Spiritual Inadequacy (3)
Phi 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
According to Paul, God fills us with His power that
we may be content (self-complacent) in every
situation. We are spiritually equipped for
every circumstance, whether experiencing abundance
or need, God strengthens us and gives us wisdom to
handle the various levels of life's experiences.
19. Fear of Spiritual Inadequacy (4)
2Co 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength
[miraculous power] is made perfect [completed] in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2Co 12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
When we seek the power of God in our weaknesses we rely on Him and provide an opportunity for the magnificence of God's glory to work in our lives. There is always joy in God's presence and this is when His miraculous power becomes our miraculous power. God's power is sufficient in itself and will not only under gird us but will transform us as well.
20. Fear of Spiritual Inadequacy (5)
2Pe 1:3
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that
pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
21. Fear of Spiritual Inadequacy (6)
Phi 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Phi 4:20 Now unto God and our Father
be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
In this context, Paul is exceedingly blessed and thankful for the generosity of the Philippians for taking care of his needs. Paul responds to them with a promise that God would "fill to the full" their every need (JFB) according to God's riches. As we continue in well doing, God sees and remembers our deeds and we can rest assured that He will keep us in the palms of His hands and likewise "fill to the full" our every need.
22. Fear of Spiritual Inadequacy (7)
2Co 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
Eph 1:19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe (put their trust in God), according to the working (energizing) of his mighty power,
An astounding thought!
The power of Almighty God is abiding within each and everyone of His children. Power that exceeds greatness, exceeds abundance, and even surpasses the human imagination. God's exceeding great power energizing us from within as we trust Him with our thoughts, our hearts, and our lives.
23. Fear of Spiritual Inadequacy (8)
Psa 34:9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for
there is no want to them that fear him.
Psa 34:10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good
thing.
To fear the Lord is to walk in His wisdom because we know that if we wander from His ways we wander from His goodness and power and jeopardize the peace He has given to us. He will take care of us and provide us with everything that is good and will not leave us vulnerable because we lack the things we need.

Fear of Failure (1)
Psa 1:1
Blessed is
the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way
of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
Psa 1:2
But his delight is
in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Psa 1:3
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth
his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither (fall away, fail or
faint); and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
As Christians we allow the Lord to continually guide our hearts in the way of
righteousness and take no pleasure in following after darkness and its
destructive works. Therefore we will reap the fruit of life and no matter
what our circumstances are, we will continue to be effective and thrive as
individuals.
25.
Fear of Failure (2)
Eph 6:10
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the
power of his might.
Eph 6:11
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able
to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Through God we have mighty weapons that will tear down
strongholds in our lives. The message in these passages tells us that
we need our spiritual armor for victory over the schemes of the devil and that
we will wrestle with these forces in our minds and hearts. God's truth vs.
the devil's lies, God's salvation & righteousness vs. condemnation,
faith vs. fear of the fiery darts of the wicked, using the Word of God our
sword, and connecting to God in prayer for ourselves and others. Who can
defeat the power of the Lord!
26.
Fear of Failure (3)
2Co 2:14
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to
triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in
every place.
2Co 9:8
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
One sure way to avoid failure is to remain fixed in Christ. God is
always causing us to be conquerors and causing us to prosper in the knowledge of
Christ that we become God's sweet aroma wherever we go. True
success!
27.
Fear of Failure (4)
Mat 6:19
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where
moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Mat 6:20
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor
rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Mat 6:21 For where your treasure
is, there will your heart be also.
Our personal goals in life and what we desire to have
often reflect what we treasure or value in our hearts. If these
treasures or securities, whatever they may be, are bound to earthly things then
they invite fear and worry because the things of the earth are vulnerable to
both corruption and loss .
" Everything we know through our five
senses is in a state of change and decay. But when our thoughts are in
God, there can be no fears, worries, defeats, or frustrations. We are not
staking our lives on that which changes, but on Him who changeth not"
(Orientalisms of the Bible by Bishop KC Pillai, DD).
28.
Fear of Failure (5)
Deu 31:6
Be strong and of a good courage,
fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go
with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Deu 31:8
And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will
not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
Isa 58:11
And the LORD shall guide thee
continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou
shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail
not.
God is constantly
reminding us not to fear because all we need is His strength. God goes
with us, before us, guides us every step of the way, and will never leave us
alone. We will not fail because God will not fail. As we give Him
our hearts day by day and delight in His righteousness and love, He is faithful
to fill us with His Spirit against the throes of fear, despair and
discouragement. How significant is the supernatural power of joy!

Fear of man (1)
Psa 56:10 In God will I praise his word: in the
LORD will I praise his word.
Psa 56:11 In God have I put my trust: I will not be
afraid what man can do unto me.
Psa 56:12
Thy vows are
upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.
Psa 56:13 For thou hast delivered my soul from
death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling [thou will deliver],
that I may walk before God in the light of the living?
David already
sought the Lord and received God's deliverance from death. He keeps his vow of
praise to God and continues to encourage himself in the faithfulness and
power of God to safeguard him, that he need not fear the harm of any man.
When God has His hand upon a situation, we can be confident that He will see it
through to the very end.
30.
Fear of man (2)
Psa 56:3 What time I am afraid, I will trust in
thee.
Pro 29:25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but
whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
Our answer to fear is to place our trust in the Lord.
Fearing what others can do to us entangles us psychologically and is like
placing a "noose" (snare) around our necks. A snare is a trapping device
(noose/ hook etc.) for small animals. However trusting in the Lord will
keep us safe (secure from danger, harm, or evil). God's Word says that we
"shall be safe."
(Refs: Strong's/ American Heritage Dict.)
31.
Fear of man (3)
Isa 51:7 Hearken unto me, ye that know
righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of
men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.
Isa 51:8 For the moth shall eat them up like a
garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: but my righteousness shall be
for ever, and my salvation from generation to generation.
Heb 13:6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my
helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
The
injustices and false judgments of humanity are good for nothing in the end
except for reaping its own destruction, since God's Truth alone will stand and
live on eternally. We can have courage and confidence in God because He
promised us that He would never leave us. We have God's Holy Spirit within
us in which we are assured of God's everlasting company.

Fear of Loneliness (1)
Psa 107:9
For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth
the hungry soul with goodness.
Rom 4:21
And being
fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
Eph 3:20 Now unto him
that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think,
according to the power that worketh in us,
God wouldn't be God if His wisdom and power was not
great enough to see us through all of life's situations. We need not fear
loneliness because we will never be alone. God's power is more than
abundant and He is both willing and able to help us in our most urgent needs.
By placing our faith in God we keep
ourselves in His peace versus fear of our present or future circumstances.
33 .
Fear of Loneliness (2)
Psa 29:11 The LORD will give strength
[force,
security, majesty, praise] unto his people; the LORD will bless his
people with peace [safe, well, happy, friendly].
Psa 28:7
The LORD is my strength and my shield
[protector]; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart
greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
Psa 28:8 The LORD is their strength, and he is the
saving strength [fortification & defense] of his anointed.
Psa 28:9 Save thy people, and bless thine
inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever.
The Lord promises
to strengthen His own in His power and lead them to safety. The psalmist
was confident in the Lord's willingness and ability to help him and from the
heart placed his trust in Him and was helped "to surround, protect, and aid.."
34.
Fear of Loneliness (3)
Mat 19:29 And everyone who has left houses or
brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake, will
receive a hundred times more and will be given eternal life.
Psa 37:3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt
thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
Psa 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he
shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Psa 37:5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also
in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
God is a God Who
seeks to reward His children with good. God promises to bless us
abundantly if we just trust, delight and commit our lives to Him. He will not
only provide for our basic needs but also our most earnest desires. He
tells us to continue doing good, and don't worry because He will bring it to
pass.

Fear of evil (1)
Mat 6:13
And lead us
not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the
power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Psa 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of
the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy
staff they comfort me.
Pro 12:21 There shall no evil happen to the just:
but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
God will never
tempt us to fall away but is continually delivering us from all evil. This
is a sure promise of God and even though our journey sometimes takes us through
the dark places and experiences of this world, we are to fear no evil.
The valley of the shadow of death — is a ravine
overhung by high precipitous cliffs, filled with dense forests, and well
calculated to inspire dread to the timid, and afford a covert to beasts of prey
(JFB).
36.
Fear of evil (2)
Psa 91:9
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even
the most High, thy habitation;
Psa 91:10
There shall no evil
befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
Psa 91:11
For he shall give
his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
We can be confident,
that as we abide in Christ, God's angels are watching over us. God
specifically assigns and authorizes His angels to protect us from all manner of
evil, as well as "widespread affliction or calamity" (AH Dict.).
37.
Fear of evil (3)
Pro 22:5 Thorns and snares are in the way of the
forward (distorted/ false): he that doth keep his soul shall be far from
them.
Pro 19:23 The fear of
the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall
not be visited with evil.
Luk 7:21 And in that same hour he cured many of
their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were
blind he gave sight.
As Christians, we are mindful of the ways of God and
understand that our well being is supernaturally protected and preserved by the
power, grace and forgiveness that we receive of God through Christ. Jesus
Christ suffered and died for the whole world and anyone who believes in Him will
find salvation and deliverance from all evil.
Thorns and snares:
the thorns of affliction, and the snares of Satan: by the one his way is
hedged up, and in the other his feet are taken; (Gill)
Shall abide satisfied:
In this life as well as the next life.
1Ti 4:8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but
godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is,
and of that which is to come.
38.
Fear of evil (4)
Pro 1:33
But whoso
hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
Psa 97:10 Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he
preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the
wicked.
Pro 13:21 Evil pursueth sinners: but to the
righteous good shall be repayed.
Whoever is attentive to the voice of God, will
not only dwell safely but shall be peaceful and at ease from fear of evil "he
shall dwell under the special protection of Heaven, so that nothing shall do him
any real hurt” (Matthew Henry's Commentary).

Fear of evil (5)
Psa 5:12 For thou, LORD, wilt
bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.
Psa 16:8 I have set the LORD
always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Deu 33:27 The eternal God is
thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the
enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.
God's presence is always with us, even when we feel that
there are only negative forces about us. We adjust our vision and focus on
the knowledge that God has power over all evil and is watching over us all of
the time. God will bless his people with good.

Fear of evil (6)
Phi 4:8 Finally, brethren,
whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are
just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever
things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise,
think on these things.
Phi 4:9 Those things, which
ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God
of peace shall be with you.
A great way to avoid any fear of evil is to keep our minds
focused on things that allow our hearts to sincerely praise God. Things that are
true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and reputable. God says that if we do
these things His peace will give us an abiding rest.

Fear of evil (7)
Eph 1:19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his
power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
Eph 1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised
him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Eph 1:21 Far above all principality, and power, and
might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but
also in that which is to come:
Eph 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet,
and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
Eph 1:23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that
filleth all in all.
Imagine, Christ is
the head of the church and all things are under His feet. Since we are the body
of Christ, all things are under our feet for we are seated with Him in heavenly
places. Christ's power reigns supreme over all and His miraculous power is
available to the church during this present age. There is no evil power
greater than Christ. If we can speak these verses with conviction, it is
the devil who will flee in fear.

Fear of evil (8)
Col 1:13 Who hath
delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom
of his dear Son:
Luk 10:19 Behold, I give unto
you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the
enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Mar 16:17 And these
signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils;
they shall speak with new tongues;
Mar 16:18 They shall take up
serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall
lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
These verses pretty
much speak for themselves. We are already living in the kingdom of God and
we are already delivered from the power of darkness. The Holy Spirit
translated us from Satan and his kingdom the moment we received Christ.
Believers have authority over the powers of darkness in the power of Christ.
43.
Fear of evil (9)
Pro 14:26 In the fear of the LORD is strong
confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
Psa 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God:. . ."
We rest in the promises of God and it's
God Who fights against what we cannot overcome in our own strength.
Therefore, that rest is our place of refuge and a place that is always available
to the children of God.
44.
Fear of evil (10)
Pro 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower:
the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
is safe — literally, “set on high, out of danger”
(JFB)
Psa 61:3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a
strong tower from the enemy.
Pro 3:26 For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and
shall keep thy foot from being taken.
Psa 55:18 He hath delivered my soul in peace from
the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.
Strong tower:
Security - "From Satan the devouring lion, from furious
persecutors, and every other enemy; and this experience the psalmist had of
protection from the Rock in former times made him desirous of being led to it
now "(Gill).

Fear of succumbing to temptation (1)
Mat 6:13
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the
kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Luk 4:13
And when the devil had ended all the
temptation, he departed from him for a season (Jesus was tempted
in the wilderness).
1Co 10:13
There
hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful,
who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the
temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
The devil is the tempter and the
deceiver of the world. The Lord was led into the wilderness to be tempted
of the devil and victoriously overcame him. Jesus won the victory over all
temptation for all of humanity. Although we may endure temptation for a
season, it will not overtake those who rely on the strength of Christ.
46.
Fear of succumbing to temptation (2)
Luk 8:13 They on the rock are they, which, when
they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while
believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
Luk 22:46 And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise
and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.
Jam 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth
temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the
Lord hath promised to them that love him.
We endure all
kinds of temptations in this life from the small to the great. There will
come a time when we will no longer struggle in our flesh and our less than
perfect understanding of all that we experience. In the mean time, let's
wake from sleep, pray and trust the Lord by guarding our hearts and remaining
rooted and grounded in Christ.
47.
Fear of succumbing to temptation (3)
Luk 22:40 And when he was at the place, he said
unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
1Ti 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into
temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men
in destruction and perdition.
Mat 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into
temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Staying in
communion with God is essential to resisting temptation. We occupy our
minds by meditating on spiritual things rather than its antithesis. By
carefully guarding our thoughts, and what we choose to dwell on, we protect
ourselves from the entanglements and struggles of the weakness of the flesh.
Regarding 1Ti 6:9
will be rich — have more than “food and raiment.”
Greek, “wish to be rich”; not merely are willing, but are resolved, and
earnestly desire to have riches at any cost. This wishing (not the riches
themselves) is fatal to “contentment” (1Ti_6:6). Rich men are not told to cast
away their riches, but not to “trust” in them, and to “do good” with them (JFB).
48.
Fear of succumbing to temptation (4)
2Pe 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give
diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye
shall never fall:
2Pe 1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered
unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ.
2Pe 3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know
these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the
wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
The Apostle Peter
is exhorting us to put forth an effort in our commitment to Christ. A
commitment that will add growth and stability in our acceptance of Christ, in
Whom we are chosen. If we do these things, we will not trip or stumble
into sin. By this, God promises us a path of abundant, spiritual
enrichment.
49.
Fear of succumbing to temptation (5)
Jam 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall
into divers temptations;
Jam 1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith
worketh patience.
Jam 1:4 But let patience have her perfect work,
that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
James tells us to consider it all
joy when we're surrounded by various kinds of temptations. Even though our
faith is being tested during these times, we increase in endurance and continue
to spiritually develop as Christians. We are made complete in every area
lacking in nothing.
50.
Fear of succumbing to temptation (6)
1Pe 1:5 Who are kept by the power of God through
faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
1Pe 1:6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for
a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
1Pe 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much
more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might
be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
Temptations are grievous; however, a
trustworthy faith keeps us in the power of God and is highly esteemed in heaven.
Our times of temptations are but for a season or "a little time," but our
salvation "everlasting." In this, we rejoice!
