This subject actually came up in our Fellowship Class at church which an evangelist who attends stated it twice. As far as I can observe, the only place where most people who believe in this fallacy is the Book of Enoch. Now, I do believe we can use extra-Biblical sources to substantiate what the Bible says, but it can not be used to establish a Bible fact!

Do you know of any other non-Biblical sources which teach about the fallen/evil angels co-habituating with “daughters of men”?

    Be Blessed,

Thank you for a well presented article. I have read many who assert that these were angels. I have always maintained that such was impossible. You have provided me excellent proof to maintain my position. May The Lord bless you

I would like to ask the question of the author of this article or of anyone, to give understanding, does Hebrews 1:5 have any relevance here?
“For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?”
This verse in context is contrasting Jesus Christ to any of the angels, but the last portion of this verse would seem to imply that in no case has God ever said of any of the angels, “and he shall be to me ‘a’ Son.” That is, “a son” not “The Son.”

      Geg, very interesting point,

Also, In the book of Job it only states,

Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

I present a question for this verse. Could it be the sons of God spoken of here were men who worshipped God, who, like Job, presented burnt offerings etc.?

See also terms used in addressing men before God:

Exo 34:2 And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning unto mount Sinai, and present thyself there to me [God] in the top of the mount.

Deu 31:14 And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thy days approach that thou must die: call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of the congregation, that I may give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tabernacle of the congregation.

1Sa 10:19 And ye have this day rejected your God, who himself saved you out of all your adversities and your tribulations; and ye have said unto him, Nay, but set a king over us. Now therefore present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes, and by your thousands.

      God Bless! Magdalene

My dear friend, the bible does not indicate the instructions that God gave to the angels of what they should and should not do. Secondly, the Angels(good) in heaven do not marry; it does not talk about the angels who rebelled or are evil. Thirdly, the advances in science have shown that in the natural men, now possess the kowledge to clone, disect dna, cross breed different species etc. Angels are wiser then men by far and have knowledge we do not posess. it is unwise to assert, what angel can and cannot do, unless God specifically says so. I would advise you to pray to Jesus and ask for wisdom on this subject.

      Joe,

      Thank you for your feedback!

I agree that we shouldn’t assert what we don’t know, and therefore, we should also be careful not to assert that the “sons of God” were fallen angels who cohabited with the women in Genesis; however, we can speculate, but that’s all it is, “speculation.”

What we can assert is the Word of God, and angels, whether they are good or evil, are spirit beings, and we are flesh and blood. The bible is clear about 2 things: Angels are created beings that do not reproduce, and all seed is after its own kind.

The context of Genesis 6 is clear that they took “wives” and the wives bore children, in which these children became “mighty men.” It also says that God will not always strive with “man.” God saw the “wickedness of man.” The context is clearly about fallen men, not fallen angels.

Gen 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Gen 6:6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

Gen 6:7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

Wouldn´t it be logical to call them “sons of men” to match with “daughters of men”?

Or match “sons of God” with “daughters of God”?

So for me the only explanation is that the sons of God must be spirit creatures and not humans.

Not only that but all spiritism we see on earth today is because these rebel angels lost their position in heaven and they are now confined to the vicinity of the earth.

      To clarify my position:

The terms “sons of God” are used in both the old and new testaments for God’s people, as well as angels. The daughters of men imply those who do not call upon the name of the Lord, and I believe that’s why it says the “daughters of men” vs. the daughters of God. So it would seem that there was intermarrige between believers and unbelievers. God is very clear on seed producing after its own kind. Angels are sexless, and if this being the case, how would they even have desire for earthly women, nor can they produce any seed.

It says in the book of Leviticus that the soul life of humans is in the blood. Man is flesh and blood, and angels are created spirit beings not a progeny. They cannot pass on soul life.

Also, the spiritism we see today is from Satan and his kingdom of darkness, as 1/3 of the angels were thrown out of heaven along with Satan when they rebelled against God.
